The Movie and Other Twilight Ramblings

My Twilight Story....

In 2005 I had just finished reading Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles and the Mayfair Witches, and need something more to read. So, I went in search of more vampire related novels. I did a search on Amazon where I found a great number of books to read, among them Twilight. Once It arrived, the book sat on my shelf for a good while. I finally got around to reading it February 2006. By the second chapter I was hooked, I had a hard time putting it down. I couldn't believe how good it was and how easily I was sucked into the story. Immediatley after finishing it, I read it again. I have read it several times since... I don't dare open my hardcover of Twilight, I'm afraid it will fall apart. LOL!

The Movie... [no spoilers]

When I heard they were doing a Twilight movie I was very hesitant at first. I thought "oh god they are gonna ruin it" cause well Hollywood has gotten it wrong many other times. But then the trailers started coming out, they were just brilliant. That's when I started getting my hopes up thinking, maybe they got it right this time. From then on I couldn't wait to see this film.

I just got back from seeing the film. Now I don't want to go all fangirl... but that was just so frikkin awesome. I loved every mintue of it. The did change a few things, but they were minor. For me it was perfect, I wasn't disappointed at all. They did an amazing job. I loved the instrumental background music.

Most know this already, but on November 22nd Summit Entertainment announced they are moving forward with the production of New Moon.

Twilight

The anticipation is finally over and the day has arrive. The premiere of TWILIGHT. In some theaters the movie is already playing. Does anyone plan going on opening day??? I had plans to, but life kinda got in the way. So, I'm planning on going the day after Thanksgiving. I'm gonna try very hard to stay away from any reviews of the movie until I go and see it. I'm pretty excited about going to see this movie, but I don't want to get my hopes up too high. I'm sure there are gonna be things that I won't like about it. But that is true about most books that are turned into movies.

Cover Art: Frostbitten

Wow what a great cover! I think this is one of my favorite covers in the series. I'm happy to see she's going back to Elena & Clay. Yay!

Book Blurb:
When word comes of a series of humans apparently killed by wolves near Anchorage, Elena and Clay are sent to check things out. But they find more than they bargained for among the snow and trees of the savage Alaskan wilderness.

Frostbitten is the 10th book in the Women of the Otherworld series. Coming November 2009

What I've Been Reading

A Fragile Trust By: Helen Kirkman- This is the first book in the Warriors of the Dragon Banner. It was the first time I read Helen Kirkman, and I really enjoyed. It takes place during the Viking era. While the action in the story really didn't move me at all, I did enjoy the relationship between Ash and Gemma. They were what kept me reading.

http://www.helenkirkman.com/

Angel's Pain By: Maggie Shayne- This is the 15th book in the Wings in the Night series. Out of the last three books in the series this latest installment is my favorite. I was happy to see Reaper & Briar finally get their HEA. Though I will say the title really doesn't make since, there is no Angel. I know some readers think this series started with Demon's Kiss. But if you get a chance you should go back and read books 1-12, it really a great series.

http://www.maggieshayne.com/

Living With The Dead By: Kelley Armstrong- This is book 9 in the Women of the Otherworld series, and one of my favorite series. Sadly this is my least favorite book in the series. New characters Robyn and Finn were introduced in this book. For me it just was really slow going. I didn't enjoy it has much as the other books in the series. It was nice to see Hope and Karl again, who have appeared in other books.

http://www.kelleyarmstrong.com/

Revelation By: Patrice Michelle- Book 3 in the Scions series from the Nocturne line. While I have enjoyed all of the books (Resurrection, Insurrection & Revelation), this one has got be my favorite to date. The sexy werewolf Caine was fun to read. It was steamy and action packed.

http://www.patricemichelle.net/

Demon Bound By: Meljean Brook- Book 7 in The Guardian series. Although it took me a few chapters to get into the story, I really enjoyed this one. For a little bit the relationship between Jake and Alice seemed a bit strange... but I ended up like them in the end. Colin & Savitri from Demon Moon are still my favorite though.

[Trailers] Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

Half-Blood Prince is my least favorite book out of the series, for obvious reasons. But I can't wait to see the movie. Shame that it got pushed back to 2009. Here are two new trailers.

[ARC Review] - In the Blood

Title: In the Blood
Author: Adrian Phoenix
Series: The Maker's Song
Genre: Urban Fantasy
Year: 2008

I received this book for review from the author.

Summary: While still struggling with nightmares and seizures, vampire rock star Dante Baptiste continues to search for the truth about his past. And when he and his band Inferno come to Seattle on tour, FBI Special Agent Heather Wallace can't help but be drawn back to the beautiful, dangerous nightkind even though she knows the extent of the Bureau corruption that surrounds them. But what neither realize is that new enemies lurk in the shadows. Shadowy government forces are eliminating loose ends from Project Bad Seed--and Heather and Dante are first on the list. Elsewhere, the Fallen gather, intent on finding the long-awaited savior. And a damaged and desperate adversary, with powers as strange and perilous as Dante's own, plots to use Dante as a pawn for violent revenge. But only one of these lethal forces holds the key that could finally unlock the secrets of Dante's birth and the truth of his existence... or destroy him completely

Thoughts: This is the second book of the The Maker's Song series. I enjoyed it just as much as the first, A Rush of Wings. There are really three story lines going on that all lead to Dante.... The Bureau/Conspiracy, The Fallen and then the relationship between Heather and Dante. At first I wasn't sure I was gonna read the second book. But I was really captivated by Heather and Dante in the first book, things were kinda left open at the end. I had to to find out what happens to them. They are what will keep me reading the books to come. There were a few parts that were hard to get through, but other than that it was a good story.

Score: 4 Stars

One Silent Night [winner & thoughts]

Everytime I have a contest I try use a different way of picking a winner. This time I used Random.org , it's a handy site to use when your bored with picking a name out of hat. :)

And the winner is Crystal Adkins

My thoughts on One Silent Night: I really enjoyed this book, which really surprised me. For most of the Dark-Hunter series Stryker was/is the bad guy and I wasn't sure I'd like this book because of him. But I did and it was interesting to find out more about his past. Stryker and Zephyra are what made the book great. I love Zephyra is kick ass and doesn't take shit from anyone. I don't think there has been a character in this series like that since Tabitha Devereaux. There were quite a few surprise along the way, I'm really looking forward to see how the series is gonna change.

Lisa Kleypas

Lisa Kleypas Rocks! Yes, that's what I said. The past several months I have read many of my fellow bloggers going on about how great Lisa Kleypas was, so I had to see what the buzz was about. I picked up the first two books in The Hathaway series. I was just blown away by them. The were both thrilling romance stories, set in the Regency Era. I love the two male Gypsy leads, Kev & Cam... they'll keep you turning the pages. ;) Both books are a Must Read!

My friend Barbara tells me that The Wallflowers series is just as good, so I'm gonna give that a try too. :)

Book Description:
When an unexpected inheritance elevates her family to the ranks of the aristocracy, Amelia Hathaway discovers that tending to her younger sisters and wayward brother was easy compared to navigating the intricacies of the ton. Even more challenging: the attraction she feels for the tall, dark, and dangerously handsome Cam Rohan.

Wealthy beyond most men’s dreams, Cam has tired of society’s petty restrictions and longs to return to his “uncivilized” Gypsy roots. When the delectable Amelia appeals to him for help, he intends to offer only friendship—but intentions are no match for the desire that blindsides them both. But can a man who spurns tradition be tempted into that most time-honored arrangement: marriage? Life in London society is about to get a whole lot hotter….

Book Description:
Kev Merripen has longed for the beautiful, well-bred Winnifred Hathaway ever since her family rescued him from the brink of death when he was just a boy. But this handsome Gypsy is a man of mysterious origins—and he fears that the darkness of his past could crush delicate, luminous Win. So Kev refuses to submit to temptation…and before long Win is torn from him by a devastating twist of fate.

Then, Win returns to England…only to find that Kev has hardened into a man who will deny love at all costs. Meantime, an attractive, seductive suitor has set his sights on Win. It’s now or never for Kev to make his move. But first, he must confront a dangerous secret about his destiny—or risk losing the only woman he has lived for…

With the eminent approach of the coming battle, Lucan and Kira discover something shocking about themselves and their relationship. Fate has given them a gift. Will Lucan embrace Kira and his fate? Read An Excerpt H E R E

My Thoughts on Bound By Fate: I was able to read this book while it was being written. It has been a few months since I've read it and I enjoyed it just as much, this time around. :) I think out of the two books (Bound By Magic & Bound By Fate), this second book is my favorite. I really enjoyed Kira and Lucan, they are great characters.

From Paperbacks to Hardcovers

It's no secret, even though I buy hardcovers... I am a paperback girl all the way. I don't really have a big problem with hardcovers other than the price. But what I find really annoying is when Authors that are 4, 5, 6, 7 books into a series, they decided to go hardcover. Now I realize this is probably not the Author's doing, it's probably more the Publishers idea. I just find it very frustating.

The frustration really isn't that it's a hardcover or that I'm gonna pay more for it. It's the fact that all the other damn books in the series are in paperback.

The two books below are a great example. They will be released in 2009 in hardcover, while the previous books are paperbacks. These books happen to be two of my favorite series, so of course I'll be buying them. But why do this? Is there another reason to go hardcover besides making more money??

Lover Avenged
-J.R. Ward

Bone Crossed
-Patricia Briggs

Ok, now that I've had my little rant, I'm just wondering if this bothers anyone else?
