The Heirs of Cahira O'Connor

I really should be sleeping by now, but I'm wide awake. To waste time I've been browsing on Amazon. ;) I came across this book below, The Silver Sword by: Angela Elwell Hunt. It's the first book in a series called The Heirs of Cahira O'Connor. It was first published in 1998, it's being re-release on June 2nd with a brand new cover. It looks like it might be pretty good.

Book Blurb:
The auburned-haired O'Connor women share a bond far deeper than their striking physical appearance. These courageous, high-spirited women all push against societal limits in this exciting historical, romantic novel that spans generations and countries from 13th-century Ireland to the excitement and mystery of 15th-century Prague.
It is said that as Cahira, daughter of the great Irish king Rory O'Connor, lay dying of a wound from a Norman blade, she beseeched God that others would follow her calling. To Kathleen O'Connor, Cahira's story was nothing more than a fable--until research divulged that the tale was true. As a stunned Kathleen realizes that she herself bears the mark of Cahira, she wonders if she is destined to continue the legacy.
To uncover the answers, Kathleen delves into the past to find the truth about the Heirs of Cahira O'Connor. It is a journey that carries her across generations, from the battlefields of 13th-century Ireland to the castles of 15th-century Prague. It is a past filled with peril, courage, vengeance, love, and sacrifice beyond anything she has ever known.

Frak!

I finally got around to watching the series finale of Battlestar Galactica. It originally aired last week, but with it being the last episode I've been putting it off. I hated that it was ending. I'm sure there are fans out there that just hate the way the show ended. They did leave a lot of questions unanswered. But for myself I thought it was pretty damn great.

The first episode of BSG I saw was when Boomer shot the Old Man. From then on I was totally addicted. It is one of the best shows out there, and will definitely be missed. Lucky for us fans(and most fans know this already) there is gonna be a spin-off called Caprica. It will be taking place 50 years prior the the events in BSG. I can't wait to see what this one is gonna be like.

What I've Been Reading...

Debut author and new series. This is the first book in the Southern Witch series. Tammy Jo lives in small town Texas, she comes from a family of witches. But sadly her spell casting attracts trouble. This book was highly enjoyable. A fun, fast read. The author has a great sense of humor. I'm looking forward to book number two.

Book Blurb: In the small town of Duvall, Texas, the only thing more troublesome than gossip — is magic.

The family magic seems to have skipped Tammy Jo Trask. All she gets in the way of the supernatural are a few untimely visits from the long dead, smart-mouthed family ghost, Edie. But when her locket—an heirloom that happens to hold Edie's soul—is stolen in the midst of a town-wide crime spree, it's time for Tammy to find her inner witch.

After a few experiences in dysfunctional magic, Tammy turns to the only one who can help; the very rich and highly magical, Bryn Lyons. He might have all the answers-and a 007 savoir faire to boot-but the locket isn't the only heirloom passed down in Tammy's family. She also inherited a warning...to stay away from anyone named Lyons.

Eternal is the second Young Adult Fantasy by Cynthia Leitich Smith. It takes place in the same world as Tantalize, but this time around it deals with vampires and angels. It was an entertaining read. From what I hear the third book Blessed well bring characters from both books together. That should be very interesting.

Book Blurb: At last, Miranda is the life of the party: all she had to do was die. Elevated and adopted by none other than the reigning King of the Mantle of Dracul, Miranda goes from high-school theater wannabe to glamorous royal fiend overnight.

Meanwhile, her reckless and adoring guardian angel, Zachary, demoted to human guise as the princess’s personal assistant, has his work cut out for him trying to save his girl’s soul and plan the Master’s fast-approaching Death Day gala.

This is the last book in the Gardella Vampire Chronicles. The series takes place in the 19th century. Victoria Gardella Grantworth is descended from a long line of vampire hunters. It was sad to see this series end, but really liked it. I thought the ending was great.

Book Blurb: While Sebastian Vioget appears to be both the perfect warrior and lover to ensure the Gardella Legacy, Victoria cannot forget Max Pesaro – the former slayer still haunted by the vampire queen Lilith's obsession with him.

But it is Lilith's obsession that may save all of humanity. Demons, enemies of both mortals and the undead, have found their way to earth. To defeat them, vampires and slayers must fight side by side. But Lilith wants Max in return for her cooperation – a small price for the world, but too high a price for Victoria.

Surrender Dorothy is the sequel to Not In Kansas. R.G. Alexander has created a wonderful spin on The Wizard of Oz. I loved this installment, it was hard to put down. It was fun, fast and steamy. I really hope there is gonna be another book.

Book Blurb: Dorothy knows her new neighbor is too wicked to be trusted. As a natural witch, she recognizes the Wizard for what he truly is. As a woman, she recognizes him as a threat to her sanity.
Z has tried everything. Pursued her in dreams, bribed her cat, enticed her with peep shows meant to whet her appetite and drive her crazy. And still she resists. What’s a Wizard to do? He came to Earth to have an adventure, not lose his heart to the one witch whose guard he can’t get past.

When he finally gets his hands on her, the power between them is undeniable. But Dorothy’s family secret could make him sorry she surrendered.

Still Reading.....

Book 2 in the Maximum Ride series. For me this series has be quiet a suprised. I haven't been enthralled with a Young Adult Fantasy since Harry Potter and Twilight. But really I think both kids and adults will like this series. Being out of the loop as I sometimes am, I just learned they are gonna do a Maximum Ride movie. Yay! I also read there are rumors circling that Catherine Hardwicke(of Twilight) will be Directing.

Book Blurb: Brave bird-kid Max and her flock fly south on a perilous quest to find their parents, after having rescued Angel and recovered secret documents about their origins. But just when they think they've finally escaped the hungry claws of evil Erasers, they're discovered by an FBI agent and forced to face perhaps an even worse nightmare: going to school. There's no such thing as an ordinary day when Max's "homework" includes decoding documents, deciphering when (and how) she's supposed to save the world, and learning to face what may her greatest enemy: herself.

This is my first time reading Margo Maguire. I bought this book all because of the cover. I love it. LOL! I'm only a couple chapters in, but I'm really liking it.

Book Blurb: Anthony Maddox was lost in Africa as a child while on safari with his father. Twenty-two years later, a young man is found in the Congo, a man who could only be that lost child. He is returned to England, where the dowager countess of Sutton determines that he is truly her grandson. She insists that he be tutored in private by her most trusted companion, Grace Hawthorne, so that he can be civilized and take his place in society as the Earl of Sutton. But Grace is a very proper young lady, who knows she should keep her distance from the wild young man who might - or might not - be Lady Sutton's grandson.

R.G. Alexander

I only bought one ebook today. That has just never happened before. LOL!

Out Now!

What Happens When a Wicked Wizard Woos a Wary Witch?

Sequel to Not in Kansas.

Dorothy knows her new neighbor is too wicked to be trusted.

But Dorothy’s family secret could make him sorry she surrendered

Gliders and Wizards and Sex Droids… Oh My!

Kansas Frayne has everything he needs. Except a life—and love. A freak storm changes all that when it hurls him into the darkness. He wakes up to find he’s been thrust into a world of promiscuous and directionally challenged beings, sensually sentient water and servants created solely to fulfill any imaginable fantasy.

The sexuality he’s long denied is tested to its limits, especially when a darkly erotic wizard issues the ultimate challenge. If Kansas wants to go home, he must fulfill one task. Resist the allure of the unbearably beautiful king.

Sounds easy enough.

Until he gets a look at the golden monarch. The chemistry between them is undeniable, and Kansas quickly realizes this is a challenge he is doomed to fail. Yet he has to try.
Before he loses his heart.

Also by R.G. Alexander- Children of the Goddess series

There’s only one place left to run—into forbidden arms.

Children of the Goddess, Book 1

When she arrives at Ye Olde Haven Pub, the sanctuary for Trueblood Vampires, Regina is wounded and desperate. Her only thought is to save the Deva Clan, her family, from the dangerous Loups De L’Ombre, the Shadow Wolves. She knows she will not exactly be welcomed with open arms. She is, after all, an Unborn, the lowest caste of Vampire.

As a natural born from the purest line, Zander Sariel knows the rules are sacrosanct—a Trueblood mates with his own kind. But one taste of the young Unborn is all Zander needs to know that rules were made to be broken.

With enemies at every turn, Zander risks everything to save Regina from the monster that hunts her, his own kind’s ignorance and—if he must—her lack of faith in her own unique abilities.

Only together do they have a chance to defeat the shadow that haunts their future, and save their entire race from extinction.

Two mates. One sacrifice. It’s a challenge that could save them all…or destroy everything.

Children of the Goddess, Book 2

Because of his own carelessness, Lux Sariel lost his lover at the hands of the shaman Gray Wolf, and put his Trueblood family in grave danger. Now he’s been sent on a mission to find and protect his mortal enemy’s sister. His companion is Arygon, a sexy Alpha who won’t take no for an answer.

When the two men find Sylvain, a sheltered and innocent beauty with power beyond imagining, passions ignite—and suddenly none of them are certain of the future.

No one but the Goddess.

She has a plan that will change everything for Her children, Were and Vampire alike. A challenge that will fulfill the promise of what this unusual threesome have found together…or destroy them all.

Twilight:
Directors Notebook

The Story Of How The Movie Was Made

By: Catherine Hardwicke

I originally hadn't planned to buy this book. But last week I was at Walmart checking out what they had for new books. I did a double take when I saw this book, I really wasn't expecting to Walmart to have it. Back in 2006 after I first read Twilight, Walmart didn't even carry it, now the Saga takes up half of the hardcover section. So, I looked at the book and walked away and what ya know it started calling me name. Damnt thing. LOL!

I finished reading it in a couple days. It's a really fast read but very interesting and insightful. The book is full of drawings, story boards, candids and stills from the film. If there is any tidbit you've wondered about the movie, you'll probably find it somewhere in this book.

I'll be giving this one away in one of my contests this summer.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I sure many of you are aware that Twilight is being released on dvd today! But I thought I'd post the news just incase there's someone out there who doesn't know. ;)
[Review] - Nicholas
Title: Nicholas
Author: Elizabeth Amber
Series: The Lords of Satyr
Genre: Paranormal/Erotic Romance
Year: 2007
I received this book for review from the author.
Summary: The last in a fabled line of otherworldly aristocracy, the Lords of Satyr are born to wealth, power, and a talent for sensual delight that mere mortals only dream of. Commanded to marry, these passionate men will travel to Rome, Venice, and Paris—and along the way will explore desires both shamelessly wicked and blissfully divine…
Nicholas looks very much like what he is—a handsome, successful heir to a vineyard in Tuscany. But Nicholas is much more for he is one of the last in an ancient line of Satyr men. And the dying king of ElseWorld wants him not only to marry, but to wed one of the king’s own daughters—a half-human, half-faerie woman unaware of her heritage. Nicholas won’t shirk his duty to produce heirs to guard his race’s legacies, but he never planned to make his bride his only lover. A Satyr’s sexual hunger and sexual skills are legendary. One woman will never satisfy him.
Or so Nick believes until he meets Jane. As spirited as she is fey, as beautiful as she is innocent, she is nevertheless determined to make her new husband hers alone—and she’s eager for him to teach her every deliciously carnal secret he knows.
Thoughts: This story has an eye popping start. Ms. Amber has a brilliant imagination. Talk about double the pleasure. Even though I have read quiet a few Erotica books, I found myself gasping at some scenes. Not only is the cover yummy, the book was deliciously written. If your looking for a steamy erotica Nicholas would be what your looking for. And the good news there are 3 more Satyr's to read about. ;)
[Review] - Happy Hour at Casa Dracula
Title: Happy Hour at Casa Dracula
Author: Marta Acosta
Series: Casa Dracula
Genre: Paranormal/Romantic Comedy
Year: 2006 & 2008
I received this book for review from the author.
Summary: Despite her Fancy University (F.U.) degree, Milagro de los Santos isn’t having much success at life. She can barely pay the rent and all of her boyfriends are as frivolous as beach reads. Then, at a party in honor of her successful ex-boyfriend, she meets the unusually attractive, quirky Oswald Grant.
Who knew that her passionate kiss with Oswald would result in serious illness, a craving for raw meat, and an aversion to sunlight? Well, her ambitious ex knew, and after he attempts to kidnap Milagro, she must hide out with Oswald’s snobby family at their country estate to recover and learn the truth about their mysterious "genetic condition.
When Oswald and his family are threatened, Milagro uses her wits, her wiles, and a wacky scheme to bring down the power-hungry creeps who refuse to let the undead live in peace.
Thoughts: This was a re-read for me, I read it for the first time back in 2006. It was just as good this time around if not better. Ms. Acosta's has created a very unique twist on vampires. Our heroine Milagro gets herself into some interesting situation, most times hilarious. I love her sense of humor. Happy Hour was a fun, laugh out loud, entertaining read. I love spending time in Milagro's world. I'm looking forward to reading the latest in the series The Bride of Casa Dracula, it'll be interesting to see what Milargo has been up to. :)
[ARC Review] - A Knight's Temptation
Title: A Knight's Temptation
Author: Catherine Kean
Series: Knight's
Genre: Historical Romance
Year: 2009
I received this book for review from the author.
Summary: Aldwin Treynarde, a squire who shot Lord Geoffrey de Lanceau with a crossbow bolt after being deceived by Baron Sedgewick, is ordered to retrieve a stolen ruby pendant before it falls into the baron and Veronique’s hands. Haunted by his guilt over being manipulated by the baron years ago, Aldwin wants to prove his worth to his lord. If he excels in his duty, he might even be awarded knighthood. Such an honor would also help redeem himself to his respected parents who, ashamed by his reckless near-murder of de Lanceau, told him never to return home.
Lady Leona Ransley, in an effort to help her depressed father, only wants to hand over the pendant, collect the reward, and vanish. When she arranges a meeting in a seedy tavern, she never expected to face Aldwin, who almost caused her death twelve years ago when they disturbed a bee’s nest during a childhood game. Although Aldwin doesn’t recognize her, he’s reminded of Leona and is haunted by his belief that she died from the bee stings from that day twelve years prior. Believing that the woman before him is a courtesan and has information on the conspirators’ whereabouts, he takes Leona hostage and spirits her away, meaning to deliver her and the pendant to de Lanceau.
She, however, fights him at every chance. He desires his warrior captive more than any noble woman he has ever met, and when he discovers who she really is, he knows he has one last chance to protect his lady’s life. Only by resolving what happened between them and by fighting side by side can Aldwin and Leona defeat the conspirators and surrender to their greatest temptation—love.
Thoughts: Catherine Kean, is an author I've been wanting to read for some time now. So when Catherine asked me if I wanted to review her book I was more than happy to. This was a delightful romance, with Lords and Ladies and big bad villain's. But it's also a story of forgiveness, redemption and love. I found the heroine a bit frustrating a times, but over all I enjoyed the story. There are a lot of references to events that happen in the first book, so you might want to read A Knight's Vengeance before this new one. I think any fans of Historical Romance, especially ones set in Medieval times will enjoy this book.
Current: Desire Unchained- Larrisa Ione
Last: Angels' Blood- Nalini Singh
3) What book did everyone like and you hated?
4) Which book do you keep telling yourself you’ll read?
Pride and Prejudice
5) Which book coming out in 2009 is top priority to read?
There are about five or six that are must buys, but at the top of the list is Lover Avenged by J.R. Ward.
6) Last page: read it first or wait 'til the end?
With most books, I'll take a peek at the last page.
7) Acknowledgements: waste of ink and paper or interesting ?
I've been part of an Acknowledgement so I think they are pretty damn cool. It's always interesting to see who the Author thanks.
I have read both. But my favorite would be Anne Rice. That is when we was still writing her vampire and witch series.
[Review] - White Witch, Black Curse
Title: White Witch, Black Curse
Author: Kim Harrison
Series: Rachel Morgan/The Hollows
Genre: Urban Fantasy
Year: 2009
Summary: Some wounds take time to heal... and some scars never fade.
Rachel Morgan, kick-ass witch and bounty hunter, has taken her fair share of hits and has broken lines she swore she would never cross. But when her lover was murdered, it left a deeper wound than Rachel ever imagined, and now she won't rest until his death is solved... avenged. Whatever the cost.
Yet the road to hell is paved with good intentions, and when a new predator moves to the apex of the Inderlander food chain, Rachel's past comes back to haunt her.
Literally.
Thoughts: I first discovered the Rachel Morgan series back in June 2006, and I automatically fell in love with the world. Rachel is a witch and along with her two roommates vampire Ivy and pixie Jenks run their business Vampiric Charms. They bring in the bad guys when no one else can. If you enjoy reading about witches, vampires, werewolves, elves, and pixies, you should give this series a try.
White Witch, Black Curse is book number 7, and for me it didn't disappoint. This series is always action packed with conflict, adventure and sometimes even romance. This time Rachel is in search of the person who killed her lover Kisten.
I know you probably hear this a lot from me but, this is one of my favorite series (I have alot I know, there's just too many to have just one). Rachel is one of my favorite heroines. She's a witch, not perfect by any means. And most days her life is a mess. She doesn't always go about handling her problems the best way. I think that's one of the reason's I like her. Whenever a new book comes out I can't wait to see what she's gotten herself into.
[Series Spotlight/Contest] - Demonica
Book Description: In a place where ecstasy can cost you your life…
She’s a demon-slayer who hungers for sensual pleasure—but fears it will always be denied her. Until Tayla Mancuso lands in a hospital run by demons in disguise, and the head doctor, Eidolon, makes her body burn with unslakable desire. But to prove her ultimate loyalty to her peers, she must betray the surgeon who saved her life.
Two lovers will dare to risk all.
Eidolon cannot resist this fiery, dangerous woman who fills him with both rage and passion. Not only is she his avowed enemy, but she could very well be the hunter who has been preying upon his people. Torn between his need for the truth and his desire to find his perfect mate before a horrific transformation claims him forever, Eidolon will dare the unthinkable—and let Tayla possess him, body and soul…
Book Description: Pleasure is their ultimate weapon . . .
Runa Wagner never meant to fall in love with the sexy stranger who seemed to know her every deepest desire. But she couldn’t resist the unbelievable passion that burned between them, a passion that died when she discovered his betrayal and found herself forever changed. Now, determined to make Shade pay for the transformation that haunts her, Runa searches for him, only to be taken prisoner by his darkest enemy.
A Seminus demon with a love-curse that threatens him with eternal torment, Shade hoped he’d seen the last of Runa and her irresistible charm. But when he wakes up in a dank dungeon chained next to an enraged and mysteriously powerful Runa, he realizes that her effect on him is more dangerous than ever. As their captor casts a spell that bonds them as lifemates, Shade and Runa must fight for their lives and their hearts—or succumb to a madman’s evil plans.
Book Description: Forbidden Temptations…
Serena Kelley is an archaeologist and treasure hunter—and a woman with a secret. Since she was seven, she’s been the keeper of a powerful charm that grants her health and immortality . . . as long as she stays a virgin. But Serena isn’t all that innocent. And when a dangerously handsome stranger brings her to the brink of ecstasy, she wonders if she’s finally met the one man she cannot resist.
Fatal Desires…
Wraith is a Seminus demon with a death wish. But when an old enemy poisons him, he must find Serena and persuade her to give him the only known antidote in the universe—her charm. Yet, as she begins to surrender to his seductions, and Wraith senses the cure is within his grasp, he realizes a horrible truth: he’s falling for the woman whose life he must take in order to save his own. Ahhh Good Times!
A couple friends have been posting pictures on Facebook from when we were in High School. I didn't even know these pictures exsisted. It took me a couple mintues to figure out when and where they were taken. But I thought I'd share, feel free to laugh I did. LOL! :)
Senior Year- 95. This was right after we got back from Spring Break-Florida. I remember the party, but not the picture being taken. A shaving cream fight broke out soon after this was taken.
1995- This was at my friend Dawn's house. We all go together to celebrate the last day of school ever. Once again I remember the party, but not the picture being taken. LOL!
1993(I think)- I believe the was Freshman Year, me & Berta. Man we look like babies. I don't know what possessed me to ever pick out those big honkin glasses to wear.
