Guest Blog & Giveaway with Terry Spear

Today I'm excited to have Terry Spear at my blog. Legend of the White Wolf was the first book I read by Terry, and I just loved it. This is one series I would definitely recommend.

Welcome Terry!!!

Why Wolves?

Where There’s a Wolf, There’s a Way!

Wolves are described as cunning, clever, curious creatures, and they are. I enjoyed seeing pictures of wolves eating their first pumpkins at Halloween at a wolf reserve and how they played with the unfamiliar fruit, poked with their noses, smelled, and sniffed, then finally began to eat them.

I was reading about wolves during the time of the buffalo when Native Americans hunted the buffalo, and how they observed the way of the wolf on a hunt, and used their techniques as well. The buffalo paid no attention to the wolves lying about in the meadow in amongst the herd. They didn’t worry about the wolf if he was walking through the herd if he kept his head up, ears perked, as if he owned the world. He was just passing through then, not in hunting mode.

But when he went into his hunting stance, he ears would flatten, head lowered, no longer were his ears visible against the horizon. Now the buffalo grew nervous. They watched him. They knew. He was on the hunt. Looking for the young or injured or old.

Why not go after the healthy buffalo? An injured wolf can’t survive long either. So their preference is for the easier targets.

Some of the Native American tribes copied the way of the wolf, and some even wore wolf skins because the buffalo weren’t afraid of the wolves, unless they recognized they were in hunting mode.

In Legend of the White Wolf, I mention the ancient Cree in the Canadian Arctic, who believed that wolves were divine creatures that came down from the aurora borealis. Since Arctic werewolves had moved into the area, the ancient Cree welcomed them, revered them for their hunting prowess, for staying together as a family, just like they had honored wolves.

With werewolves, like wolves, they don’t believe in giving up. Oh, sure, if the prey is too difficult, the wolf will move on and look for something that is easier to catch. Yet if he’s already got his meal, it’s like the proverbial dog with his bone.

With werewolves, they’re just as tenacious, and if he or she is driven to accomplish something, he or she will find a way. So when Cameron MacPherson and Faith O’Malley stumble onto a mystery of murdered bodies and a case of his missing partners, they team up to learn the truth, only the truth in this case will not set them free. Instead, they will be linked forever together in a way neither ever could have imagined.

Have you ever done something that ended up changing your life forever?

Thanks so much for having me, Anna!

  25. Hi :)
Thank you for the excellent post Terry! I love wolves & werewolves as well. I left Toronto to come back to a small town for my girlfriend (whom I married later) but during the move back I lost a 4.5 million dollar winning Lotto ticket. I look at my children as more than making up for that because if I hadn't lost the ticket we would have married sooner and my children would be different as they would have been born much earlier.
    :)
    All the best,
    RKCharron

  40. Legend of the White Wolf sounds wonderful. I love werewolf books.

You asked if I had ever done something that ended up changing my life forever. I would have to answer yes. I went out on a date and I knew on that first date that I had met my soul mate and that we would get married. We will celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary this year and we've been together for 37 years.
