[Review] - Halfway to the Grave

Title: Halfway to the Grave
Author: Jeaniene Frost
Series: Night Huntress
Genre: Urban Fantasy
Year: 2007

Summary: Half-vampire Catherine Crawfield is going after the undead with a vengeance, hoping that one of these deadbeats is her father—the one responsible for ruining her mother's life. Then she's captured by Bones, a vampire bounty hunter, and is forced into an unholy partnership.

In exchange for finding her father, Cat agrees to train with the sexy night stalker until her battle reflexes are as sharp as his fangs. She's amazed she doesn't end up as his dinner—are there actually good vampires? Pretty soon Bones will have her convinced that being half-dead doesn't have to be all bad. But before she can enjoy her new found status as kick-ass demon hunter, Cat and Bones are pursued by a group of killers. Now Cat will have to choose a side . . . and Bones is turning out to be as tempting as any man with a heartbeat.

Thoughts: I just finished reading this book. It's the first book in the Night Huntress series By: Jeaniene Frost. At first I thought I was gonna having trouble getting through it. But it was an amazingly fast read. I loved both the story and the characters. Bones is very sexy and exciting vampire. For that alone I would recommend this book. Although I'm not a fan of the ending, I have to say Jeaniene Frost is my favorite new author. Looking forward to book two- One Foot In The Grave. It comes out April 22, 2008

  1. Hi Anna!
I can understand that you didn't like the ending if you are a traditional HEA romance reader... especially if you weren't expecting the romance component to be drawn out to the next book, but I really thought the ending was great. Of course I was crying, but for me, that's part of what made it great. (... and just maybe I was PMSing at the time, too ;) lol ) I think the choices the Cat made at the end showed how that she not only matured a bit, but also has become more clever and calculated with her decisions. Of course it's quite ironic how it was probably Bone's who helped her to become that wiser person and he's the one suffering for it!

April is so far away!! :(

  2. Oh I know April is too far away. I loved the book. I have read many books that don't have the happy ending. I mostly was just bummed the book ended. Haha! I really wanted to slap Cat up, for some of her decisions. But I'm so glad there is a book 2. :D
