Title: Born of Vengeance
Author: Sherrilyn Kenyon
Narrated: Fred Berman
Series: The League: Nemesis Rising
Genre: SciFi Romance
Release Date: February 7, 2017

Summary: A fate worse death...
Bastien Cabarro survived the brutal slaughter of his entire family only to have his wife pin their murders on him. Made Ravin by The League, he is now a target for their assassins-in-training to hunt and kill. The average life expectancy for such beings is six weeks. But defying the odds is what this Gyron Force officer does best, and Bastien won't rest until he lays his betrayers in their graves.
Ten years later, he has one chance to balance the scales of justice, provided he relies on his former wingman--the very sister of the woman who testified against him.
Major Ember Wyldestarrin joined the outlaw Tavali the day Kirovar fell in the the hands of a tyrant, and she and her sister-team were left on an outpost to die under the barrage of enemy fire. The last thing she wants is to be involved in politics again. But the one thing she wants more than anything is revenge on the tyrant who murdered her parents and forced her and her sisters into exile. Carrying a secret she knows Bastien will annihilate her over, she must find some way to trust her former wingman before he catches on and kills her. Even so, treachery doesn't come easy to a woman who took a loyalty oath to protect her homeworld and comrades-in-arms, especially when Bastien is much more to her than just a former wingman.
Yet as she tries to do right for her family, she learns that Bastien doesn't just hold the key to the fate of Kirovar, he is vital to The Sentella-League war, and to The Tavali. If she doesn't ensure he survives this mission, three nations fall, and time for all of them is quickly running out.
Thoughts: This latest book is about Bastien and Ember and getting revenge on the family members who ruined their lives. I really liked these two. Like past books in the series there were a few repeated scenes but this time from Bastien's point of view. I like that Kenyon does that, it's interesting seeing events from different characters point of view. Naturally, I loved this book. There hasn't been a book in this series that I didn't like.
There is also a bonus story at the end of this book featuring Nykyrian & Julian.

[AudioBook Review + Giveaway]: Born of Betrayal by Sherrilyn Kenyon
Title: Born of Betrayal
Author: Sherrilyn Kenyon
Narrator: Fred Berman
Series: The League
Genre: SciFi Romance
Release Date: November 3, 2015
I received this audio book from Macmillan Audio, in exchange for an honest review.
Summary: Years ago, family loyalty caused Fain Hauk to give up everything he loved: His military career. His planet. His fiancée. Even his name.
Now decades later, everything has changed. He’s built a new life out of the ashes of his old, and he’s vowed to never let anything threaten his loved ones again.
But when old enemies align themselves with new ones, he’s caught in the middle of a brutal war. And when fate throws his former fiancée back into his world and she has her own agenda that includes taking his head for what he did to her years ago, more than just his life is at stake. The fate of the Ichidian universe and that of his brothers-in-arms hangs in the balance. Winner take all.
It’s killed or be killed, and never has the battle been more fierce…
Or more fun.
Thoughts: If you read the last book Born of Defiance, you'll see some familiar faces like Talyn & Galene, as well as others from previous books. This latest edition tells the story of Fain Hauk. I was excited for this one especially because of his connection with Tayln & Galene. I knew it was gonna be a good one and it was. Kenyon as always hits it out of the park. It amazes me how these books never get old. Sometimes that can happen with a long series, but every book holds something more exciting then the next.
Fred Berman is again narrating and it's wonderful how he embodies the characters.

[AudioBook Review]: Born of Defiance by Sherrilyn Kenyon
Title: Born of Defiance
Series: The League
Author: Sherrilyn Kenyon
Narrator: Fred Berman
Genre: Sci-Fi Romance
Release Date: May 12, 2015
I received this book from Macmillan Audio, in exchange for an honest review.
Summary: Born an Outcast, Talyn Batur has spent the whole of his life fighting against the prejudice of his people. An Andarion without a father is not something anyone wants to be.
But when his companion’s brother draws him into a plot against the Andarion crown, he finds himself torn between the loyalty to their planetary government that his mother has beaten into him and his own beliefs of justice and right.
Now, he must decide for himself to remain a pawn of their government or to defy everything and everyone he’s ever known to stand up to tyranny. It’s a gamble that will either save his life or end it. And when old enemies align with new ones, it’s more than just his own life at risk. And more than just his homeworld that will end should he fail.
Thoughts: Loved it! Talyn and Felicia's story is heart wrenching but at the same time beautiful. The love between the two came pretty fast, but it worked well. As many Kenyon books I've read I'm still in awe of the amazing characters she creates. Years ago when I picked up the first book Born of Night, I didn't think I would like it. But it was captivating and addicting. Haven't missed a book since. Born of Defiance is intense, sexy and many times sweet. A must read in my book.
Born of Defiance is narrated by Fred Berman. As ever he does an amazing job bring the story and characters alive.

Summary: The war is on…
Counted among the fiercest Andarion warriors ever born, Hauk is one of the five founding members of the Sentella: an organization that has declared war on the League. They rule the Ichidian universe with an iron fist and terrify it with an army of well-trained assassins. Hauk’s enemies are legion, but he fears nothing and no one. He will do whatever it takes to survive and protect his Sentella brethren.
Sumi Antaxas is one of the best assassins the League has ever trained. In her world, failure is not an option and she has never met a target she couldn’t execute. So when she’s assigned Hauk, she believes it’ll be a quick and easy mission. But nothing is ever as simple as it seems, and Hauk is far better skilled than any she's faced before...
Thoughts: I really enjoy reading SciFi Romance, but I have found few that I've loved. Of the ones I have found The League is my favorite. I love Hauk and Sumi's story. I've been hoping Hauk would get his own book since his first appearance. Secondary character Thia is pretty bad ass. I hope she gets her own book. Like the books before it, Born of Fury is sexy, heartwarming and dangerous. An excellent read.
I highly recommend this series. The League is quite an intricate world with amazing characters. If you're wanting to check this series out, definitely start at the beginning with with Born of Night.
Born of Fury is narrated by actor, Fred Berman. He does an excellent job bringing all the members of the Sentella to life. Each one unique.

[Review]: Cloak & Silence by Sherrilyn Kenyon
Title: Cloak & Silence
Author: Sherrilyn Kenyon
Series: The League
Genre: SciFi Romance
Release Date: July 8, 2013
Summary: One of the fiercest soldiers the Phrixians have ever produced, Maris Sulle has been an outsider the whole of his life. He grew up with a secret that cost him everything- His birthright, his family and his military career. In all his life, he’s only had one love and he has sacrificed his own happiness to see his best friend reunited with the woman he loves. But now that his good deed is done, he feels lost and adrift. Even though they do their best to include him in their new family, he’s once again on the outside looking in.
Ture has spent his life hiding from everyone around him while trying desperately to fit in. His family, the world, you name it. Badly hurt by everyone he’s ever known, he trusts no one except his own best friend. And honestly, he can’t understand why he trusts her. Nor can he believe her when she describes a loyalty between friends the likes of which he’s never seen.
But when he is in his darkest hour, he’s saved by a hero he thought only existed in novels. A man who is every bit as scarred and mistrusting as he is. One who has no interest in being dragged into another relationship with anyone.
Having spent his life as a living study of doomed relationships, Maris is well aware of the courtship and fiasco that invariably follows. Still, there is something about Ture he can’t resist. Something that won’t let him walk away when he knows he should.
But when old enemies return to threaten them both, they either have to stand together or die alone.
Thoughts: Phrixian, Maris Sulle hasn't had the easiest of lives. Tormented by his own family for being different as well as school mates, that is until he meets Darling Cruel his best friend. From that day on he is in love with Darling. No one has held any interest to him but Darling (even though Darling is straight) that is until he saves and meets Ture. An event that changes both of them.
This is only the second M/M I have read, but its one of my favorites. Maris Sulle is a bad ass warrior, one that has been through hell and back but still he is so vibrant that you can't help but love him. Cloak & Silence is a fast read, but absolutely enjoyable. Maris and Ture's story is filled with action, heartbreak and warmth. I think fans will love them. This is a must read, especially if you have been reading The League.

[Review] - Dragon Witch
Title: Dragon Witch
Author: Kathy Kulig
Genre: SciFi Romance/Erotica
Release Date: September 15, 2011
I received this book for review from the author.
Summary: Biologist and witch, Jaida Chel combines nature magick with herbal science to protect Kai, the last shapeshifting dragon on her world of Somerled. But when Captain Brayden Stokes reenters her life, not only is Kai’s life at stake, but so is Jaida’s secured position in the colony. Brayden and Jaida can’t resist the sexual heat between them, even though she knows a relationship would be doomed. Fleet pilots don’t stay planetside for long.
Jaida is torn between Brayden and her dragon and companion, Kai. When Kai morphs into a human twice a year, his sex drive is ravenous. He must mate for twenty-four hours or die. Unrestrained passion between Kai and Jaida temps Brayden into a forbidden encounter. With Jaida’s sassy, wicked ways, the three cross boundaries, exploring eroticism beyond their imagination. When secrets and betrayals are revealed, Brayden must risk everything for one last chance at love.
Thoughts: This story has a little bit of something for everyone. A futuristic setting, lush- erotic scenes with paranormal and fantasy elements. Now normally I'm not a fan of threesomes, but this one worked for me. All the different elements sucked me in. Dragon Witch is one hot story. I loved this one. It was sexy, sweet and definitely an adventure. The situation between the witch, dragon-shifter and the fleet captain was intriguing. The ending perfect.

[Review] - Songs of Love & Death
Title: Songs of Love & Death
Edited By: George R.R. Martin & Gardner Dozois
Genre: Anthology (SciFi/Fantasy/Romance)
Release Date: November 16, 2010
I received this for review from Simon & Schuster.
Summary: In this star-studded cross-genre anthology, seventeen of the greatest modern authors of fantasy, science fiction, and romance explore the borderlands of their genres with brand-new tales of ill-fated love. From zombie-infested woods in a post-apocalyptic America to faery-haunted rural fields in eighteenth- century England, from the kingdoms of high fantasy to the alien world of a galaxy-spanning empire, these are stories of lovers who must struggle against the forces of magic and fate.
Award-winning, bestselling author Neil Gaiman demonstrates why he’s one of the hottest stars in literature today with “The Thing About Cassandra,” a subtle but chilling story of a man who meets an old girlfriend he had never expected to see.
International blockbuster bestselling author Diana Gabaldon sends a World War II RAF pilot through a stone circle to the time of her Outlander series in “A Leaf on the Winds of All Hallows.” Torn from all he knows, Jerry MacKenzie determinedly survives hardship and danger, intent on his goal of returning home to his wife and baby—no matter the cost.
New York Times bestselling author Jim Butcher presents “Love Hurts,” in which Harry Dresden takes on one of his deadliest adversaries and in the process is forced to confront the secret desires of his own heart.
Just the smallest sampling promises unearthly delights, but look also for stories by New York Times bestselling romance authors Jo Beverley and Mary Jo Putney, and by such legends of the fantasy genre as Peter S. Beagle and Tanith Lee, as well as many other popular and beloved writers, including Marjorie M. Liu, Jacqueline Carey, Carrie Vaughn, and Robin Hobb. This exquisite anthology, crafted by the peerless editing team of George R. R. Martin and Gardner Dozois, is sure to leave you under its spell. (description from book flap)
Thoughts: This anthology holds stories about star-crossed lovers. The authors included in the book are: Jim Butcher, Jo Beverly, Carrie Vaughn, M.L.N. Hanover, Cecelia Holland, Melinda M. Snodgrass, Robin Hobb, Neil Gaiman, Marjorie M. Liu, Jacqueline Carey, Lisa Tuttle, Linnea Sinclair, Mary Jo Putney, Tanith Lee Peter S. Beagle, Yasmine Galenorn & Diana Gabaldon.
There were a few stories I didn't care for - but all in all it was a good read. A well put together anthology. Whether your a fan of Science Fiction or Fantasy, your gonna find something you love in the pages of this book. Here are a few of my favorite stories...
Love Hurts by Jim Butcher- Fun read! Very much classic Dresden. Harry realizes something about himself that most fans have known for a while.
The Thing About Cassandra by Neil Gaiman- This was my first time reading anything by Gaiman. I have to say this story was freaky, but absolutely brilliant.
You, and You Alone by Jacqueline Carey- As heart wrenching as this story was - I loved it! Fans of the Kushiel's Legacy will eat this one up. Especially since it's narrated by Anafiel Delaunay, a much beloved character.
Score: 4 Stars

Famous artist Drusilla is on a painting sabbatical when she unwittingly rescues the most fascinating male she's ever seen. But staying with Manx with throw her ordered existence into chaos and mortal danger.
Thoughts: Manx is a Zetithian warrior and a hunted man, so staying in hiding is the safest place for him to be. But when he encounters the beautiful Drusilla, he can't resist her and she too finds him just as interesting.
Fugitive is a steamy, action filled ride. Ms. Brooks' world-building is impressive as well as creative. Her strong heroines and beyond sexy heroes make the read worth it. The pairing of Manx and Drusilla was seductive and enjoyable to read. If your looking for a guilty pleasure The Cat Star Chronicles will fill the bill.

[Review & Giveaway] - Born of Ice
Author: Sherrilyn Kenyon
Series: The League
Genre: Sci-Fi Romance
Release Date: December 1, 2009
I received this book for review from the publisher, St. Martin's Press
Summary: In the Ichidian Universe, the League and its ruthless assassins continue to keep rule. But at what cost? Welcome back to the future- and a whole new world.
He is an outlaw who offers no quarter...
Devyn Kell spent his life in service to the League until he learned of the double dealing and backstabbing that was costing innocent people their lives. Refusing to play those politics, he became a Runner- someone who makes sure planets get the weapons, medicine and supplies they need to survive. May the gods have mercy on any who get in his way, because he definitely won't.
She is on the run from a past that could end her life...
Alix Garran is a woman on the run from a past she can't escape. Signing on to work for Devyn as a System's Engineer, she finds a cause she can fight for- and a man she can respect. But as Alix's past catches up to her, and Devyn's old enemies turn lethal, they have to fight together- or fall alone.
Thoughts: Born of Ice tells the story of Devyn Kell former League soldier and civilian Alix Garran. Devyn is always one step ahead of The League. While Alix, is sent to bring him in alive in order to save her family. With the past and their enemies catching up to them, they'll have to stick together if they want to survive.
This is the third installment in The League series. On first seeing and hearing Devyn, Alix is mesmerized by him. She is at a total loss for words at his yumminess. Devyn is likewise attracted, but also haunted because Alix reminds him of someone he use to know. Shockingly Devyn isn't the tortured hero compared to the hero's in books one and two. This time it is our heroine that has the horrendous past. And I have to say Alix really deserves to wreak some vengeance.
I loved this book, so far Devyn is my favorite League character. There is just something about him that pulls you in. He is dark and mysterious like the rest, but very sweet too. As always another action packed adventure from Ms. Kenyon. She has one of the best imaginations. I love spending time in her worlds. There is never a dull moment.

[Review] - Born Of Night
Author: Sherrilyn Kenyon
Series: The League
Genre: Sci-Fi Romance
Year: 2009
Summary: In the Ichidian Universe no one was safe people were dragged from their homes and killed in the streets. Victims of a ruthless tyrant who was bent on being the sole ruler. Those who opposed him formed an alliance called The League, which fell under the leadership of the Quorum.
The Quorum realized that the best way to keep trouble from starting was to cut it off at its knees. So a separate group of soldiers was needed, The League Assassins. Highly trained and highly valued, they are the backbone of the government. But not even the League is immune to corruption...
Command Assassin Nykyrian Quikiades was born and trained to slaughter. Refusing to be a pawn, he turned his back on the League and has been hunted by them ever since. Though many have tried, none can kill him. Now his assignment is to protect Kiara Zamir, a woman whose father's political alliance has made her a target. She wants nothing to do with politics, yet she is forced to submit to protection or die.
And as her world becomes even deadlier, Kiara must entrust her life to the same kind of beast who once killed her mother and left her for dead. Old enemies and new threaten them both and the only way they can survive is to overcome their suspicions and learn to trust in the very ones who threaten them most-- each other.
Thoughts: The League series originally made it's debut in 1996. The books are being re-released, expanded and with new cover art.
Once an assassin for The League, Nykyrian is constantly being hunted down, with a price on his head. Now he fights to protect the innocent. He hasn't had the easiest life unloved and abused most of this life because of what he is, he has built a thick skin around himself letting no one in. That is until he takes on the protection of Kiara Zamir. She changes everything.
Ms Kenyon has done it again. She has created a world that has sucked me in. I absolutely loved this story. This was a non-stop adventure and steamy romance, that I just couldn't put down. I loved the lead character Nykyrian. He is dark, surly and stubborn. He doesn't feel he is worth caring for or loving. I wasn't sure I was gonna like this book, but he turned out to be one an intriguing character. He's journey was wonderful to read, I'm looking forward to reading the other books in the series.

[Review] - Finders Keepers
Author: Linnea Sinclair
Genre: Futuristic Romance
Year: 2005
Summary: Independent trader Trilby Elliot is making some not-quite-legal modifications to her starfreighter, when an unexpected visitor falls out of space. Literally. He's crashed onto the uninhabited planet of Avanar in a crippled 'Sko fighter-the last place you'd expect to find a Zafharin military officer because the 'Sko and the Zafharin have been at war as long as Trilby can remember.
Rhis Vanur is your typically arrogant Zafharin. But to Trilby's surprise, he doesn't look down on her or her slapdash ship. Still, Trilby's learned the hard way that even though she found Rhis, she can't keep him. She's just a low-budget jump jockey as far as men like him are concerned. She's not falling for his offer to help...until Port Rumor reports her best friend missing and Trilby learns that the 'Sko are hunting both her and Rhis. Now they're in it together for better, for worse-or till death blasts them to oblivion....
Thoughts: I really enjoyed this one, more than I thought I would. If you like
Science Fiction with a splash of romance you'll like this book.
Trilby is on a deserted planet, making repairs to her ship when Rhis pretty much falls into her lap. Although she has reason to be, Trilby is a bit crabby for a good chunky of the book. At times her attitude was a bit annoying, but I loved her character anyway. Both Rhis and Trilby's characters make for a wonderful story.
This was my first time reading anything by Linnea Sinclair, it was a nice change from vampires and werewolves (not that I'm giving up on them anytime soon.) but, I am looking forward to reading her other books. Finders Keepers as far as I can tell is a stand-alone novel.

[Review] - Seduce the Darkness
Author: Gena Showalter
Series: Alien Huntress
Genre: Paranormal Romance/Futuristic
Year: 2009
I received this book from Simon & Schuster.
Summary: The war between otherworlders and humans changed Earth beyond recognition. It also saved Bride McKells’s life. Before, the gorgeous vampire was a target for every fanatic with a stake and a crucifix. Now she’s free to roam the streets—and desperate to find others of her kind. One man claims to have the answers she seeks. Devyn, King of the Targons, is a warrior and a womanizer, and he makes no secret of how much he wants Bride—and how dangerous he could be to her in every way.
An avid collector of women, Devyn easily seduces human and otherworlder alike. Until now. Not only does Bride resist him, but she leaves Devyn feeling something entirely new . . . a bone-deep need bordering on obsession. Her blood is the key to curing a vicious alien disease, but helping Bride uncover her origins will compel her to choose between electrifying passion and a destiny that could tear her from Devyn’s side forever.
Thoughts: Ms. Showalter has created a wonderful futuristic world where humans and aliens or otherworlders co-existed. Maybe co-existed isn't the right word. They exist together it's just not all that peaceful. That's were AIR (Alien Investigation and Removal) comes in.
Devyn is the King of Targons, a warrior race. He is self-assured and his one goal is to sleep with as many different species of women he can find. He never get jealous or territorial and he never sleeps with the same species twice. That is until he meets vampire, Bride McKell.
I really enjoyed this story. Devyn and Bride work well together. They bicker and annoy each other. But they also can't get enough of each other. That always makes for a good story. Seduce the Darkness is a wonderful addition the series, steamy, with action packed excitement. If you want to escape to another world. This series/book is the way to go.
