Thoughts on True Blood (spoiler free)

Sunday night's Season 4 premiere of True Blood was pretty amazing. I was shocked for most of the episode. I had no idea that it would end up going the way it did, but I loved every minute and can't wait for more.

I have read both good and bad comments on the episode. I feel the ones who going "OMG what have the done to my favorite book" need to set a side what they know of the books.  I know that sounds crazy and being a fan of the books, I can hardly believe I just said that. But I think doing this, they would enjoy the show a lot more.

During Season 1 I did a lot bitching and comparing with the TV show & the book series. Some things still annoy me, but I've learned just to to go with it and enjoy Alan Ball's vision. Something good to remember is that True Blood the TV show is a different creature than the Sookie Stackhouse book series.  In the opening credits towards the end it says: "Based on the Sookie Stackhouse novels" not "Word for Word of the Sookie Stackhouse novels."  :)

Frak!

I finally got around to watching the series finale of Battlestar Galactica. It originally aired last week, but with it being the last episode I've been putting it off. I hated that it was ending. I'm sure there are fans out there that just hate the way the show ended. They did leave a lot of questions unanswered. But for myself I thought it was pretty damn great.

The first episode of BSG I saw was when Boomer shot the Old Man. From then on I was totally addicted. It is one of the best shows out there, and will definitely be missed. Lucky for us fans(and most fans know this already) there is gonna be a spin-off called Caprica. It will be taking place 50 years prior the the events in BSG. I can't wait to see what this one is gonna be like.

Hey Joss Whedon Fans....

Dollhouse with Eliza Dushku airs tonight. There are no vampires or sexy space cowboys waving guns around, but it's definitely something new and different. Being a fan of Joss Whedon I can't wait to see this. For those who have no clue about the show.... here's what it's about:

ECHO (Dushku) is an "Active," a member of a highly illegal and underground group of individuals who have had their personalities wiped clean so they can be imprinted with any number of new personas. Hired by the wealthy, powerful and connected, the Actives don't just perform their hired roles, they wholly become -- with mind, personality and physiology -- whomever the client wants or needs them to be. Whether imprinted to be a lover, an assassin, a corporate negotiator or a best friend, the Actives know no other life than the specific engagements they are in at that time.

Sookie Stackhouse & True Blood

The Sookie Stackhouse books by Charlaine Harris, were the first Paranormal Romance I ever read. In fact it was actually the first time I ever heard the term "Paranormal Romance." When I finished reading the first book Dead Until Dark, I was hooked. I've been addicted to the genre ever since.

This last Sunday was the long awaiting premiere of True Blood, which is based on the Sookie Stackhouse books. By now it's pretty well known that Hollywood usually ruins books when they turn them into movies or TV shows. I stopped getting my hopes up about such things when they turned Blood and Chocolate into movie. I was horrified at how much the ripped apart that book.

I have to admit with True Blood I was a bit hopeful and couldn't wait to see it. But you know it wasn't so bad. I actually really liked it. They did change a few things, but that is to be expected. At first I didn't like who they cast as Sookie & Bill. But after watching it twice now, for me at least they pulled it off. I'm looking forward to watching the next episode. I believe the books are better, the show isn't perfect but I'm still gonna enjoy watching it every week. If you haven't read the books, I highly recommend them. They are great reads.

Sookie Stackhouse series:
Dead Until Dark
Living Dead in Dallas
Club Dead
Dead to the World
Dead as a Doornail
Definitely Dead
All Together Dead
From Dead to Worse
Dead & Gone (2009)

I Can’t Believe Those Bitches At The SciFi Channel

...oooh wait I can. They cancelled The Dresden Files. Damn them all! Although it shouldn't come as a surpise. They did the same thing to Stargate SG-1 and Farscape. There are probably other shows, but I can't think of them at the moment. The Dresden Files wasn't the best show, but it was quite good. I really enjoyed Paul Blackstone as Harry, i think he did him justice. Everytime a good show comes along they never give it a chance. They should at least let it run a full season, before they do anything. It had the potential to be great. But oooh they renew Who Wants to Be a Superhero( I love Stan Lee but this a stupid show) and Wrestling, hello this a SciFi ... Wrestling doesn't belong here!!!! If it wasn't for Stargate Atlantis and Doctor Who, I'd boycott their asses!

Here's the article talking about the cancellation: http://community.tvguide.com/blog-entry/TVGuide-Editors-Blog/Roush-Dispatch/Dresden-Sci-Fis/800019821
