[Review] - Dreaming Of You by Lisa Kleypas

Title: Dreaming Of You
Author: Lisa Kleypas
Series: Gamblers
Genre: Historical Romance
Year: 1994

Summary: In the shelter of her country cottage, Sara Fielding puts pen to paper to create dreams. But curiosity has enticed the prim, well-bred gentlewoman out of her safe haven -- and into Derek Craven's dangerous world.

A handsome, tough and tenacious Cockney, he rose from poverty to become lord of London's most exclusive gambling house -- a struggle that has left Derek Craven fabulously wealthy, but hardened and suspicious. And now duty demands he allow Sara Fielding into his world -- with her impeccable manners and her infuriating innocence. But here, in a perilous shadow-realm of ever-shifting fortunes, even a proper "mouse" can be transformed into a breathtaking enchantress -- and a world-weary gambler can be shaken to his cynical core by the power of passion...and the promise of love.

Thoughts: I don't even know how to being to describe how much I liked this book. So, far every book I have read by this author(and there hasn't been too many since I just started reading LK), I've just loved. Besides It Happened One Autumn, Dreaming Of You is my favorite LK book. Our hero Derek Craven is just addicting, and intriguing - even when he's being an ass. I had a hard time putting this one down. Every time I thought of taking a break from reading I'd end up going on to the next chapter, cause I had to find out what happened next. :) This is the second book in the book in the Gamblers series, but it can be read as a stand alone. It's a must read!

  3. I could go on and on about this book.
All I can say is the scene where Sara finds her glasses in Derek's pocket

  5. Oh, I love the glasses scene too! How did it go? Is it your eyes or your heart, Derek?

  6. Yes, I loved this one too! That scene with the wench made me cry. And the glasses gave me butterflies and tingles.

  7. I also love the scene when Derek finds her at the assembly in the dress and masque and has no idea it's Sara. ;)

  8. AHA!!! Another Cravenator me thinks. There are so many great scenes in that book but one I really enjoy is when Derek and Sarah are visiting her parents for the first time and Sarah is in with her mother and keeps popping into the room where her father and Derek are discussing their upcoming marriage and Derek asks her to cut him some toast - very thin slices. I don't know why but that scene always makes me smile. And then when her former fiance comes to visit and calls her a hussy and then Derek gets all growly - I love that whole scene.
And then of course the dog drawn scene - love that one too!!

  9. It's just a shame Derek didn't get to knock Perry out for that insult. :)
