I read Ilona Andrews' Magic Bites when it was first released. Sadly I had a tough time getting through the book. The story wasn't pulling me in. What did interest me was the heroine Kate Daniels and Lion shape-shifter Curran. Even though I wasn't into the story, the characters are what kept me reading. Now it's pretty notorious that Urban Fantasy books rarely end with happy endings. Being a romantic at heart... at the time I decided not to continue the series.
Yesterday I came across book two Magic Burns at the library, I thought what the heck. So, I'm gonna give this series another try. I have it on my March reading list. Hopefully I'll enjoy this story more.

I hope you enjoy the second book in the series more Anna. Sometimes the author is able be more inventive as the books and plot progress.
ReplyDeleteWill be interested to know your thoughts with respect to the sequel.
Good idea to get it as a library loan. :)

Thanks Lea!
ReplyDeleteYou know I had no intention of getting books when I went in. I was there to use the copy machine. But the new books section called my name.
LOL!
I hope you enjoy it too.
ReplyDeleteI was at the library the other day and picked up Pride and Prejudice on cd. I havne't been listening to it though :(!
I have Pride and Prejudice in paperback but haven't read it yet.
ReplyDeleteI've read both Magic Bites and Magic Burns and I must say I had a bit of trouble really getting into the first one. It finally took off maybe at the halfway mark for me. Then I really enjoyed Magic Burns even more. Kate Daniels isn't quite as amazing as Mercy Thompson, but she's still a great heroine. Of course I lover her and Curran together, but there's a great cast of secondary characters, too. I hope you give it a try again! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm reading Magic Burns now and I'm enjoying it much better than the first one. :)
