WHAT SECRETS LIE SHROUDED IN DARKNESS?
Okay, so jogging through Central Park after midnight wasn't a bright idea. But Margrit Knight never thought she'd encounter a dark new world filled with magical beings--not to mention a dying woman and a mysterious stranger with blood on his hands. Her logical, lawyer instincts told her it couldn't all be real--but she could hardly deny what she'd seen...and touched.
The mystery man, Alban, was a gargoyle. One of the fabled Old Races who had hidden their existence for centuries. Now he was a murder suspect, and he needed Margrit's help to take the heat off him and find the real killer. And as the dead pile up, it's a race against the sunrise to clear Alban's name and keep them both alive...
A covenant broken. A hell unleashed... New York City's only legal counsel to the fabled Old Races, Margrit Knight is levelheaded in all matters extraordinary. But when she's summoned to negotiate a peace treaty among rival factions, her own mortal world threatens to fall apart. Margrit's been in hot water before, but reentering the underworld brings a new set of problems. And a new set of friends and enemies, including a ruthless vampire mobster, a dragonlord who won't take no for an answer, a band of subversive selkies...oh, and Alban Korund, the sexy gargoyle who got her into this mess -- and whose granite-strong touch still haunts her every fantasy...
War has erupted among the five Old Races, and Margrit is responsible for the death that caused it. Now New York City's most unusual lawyer finds herself facing her toughest negotiation yet. And with her gargoyle lover, Alban, taken prisoner, Margrit's only allies--a dragon bitter about his fall, a vampire determined to hold his standing at any cost and a mortal detective with no idea what he's up against--have demands of their own.
Determined to rescue Alban and torn between conflicting loyalties as the battle seeps into the human world, Margrit soon realizes the only way out is through the fire....
I have a shelf of older Luna books. The ones I've read I've really liked, especially Jeri Smith-Ready!
ReplyDeleteI love this series! I think that the first book was the one that I liked least, if that inspires you. :)
ReplyDeleteHm I do think this sounds interesting. I wonder about them
ReplyDeleteI love gargoyles but I'd hadn't heard of this series before. Thanks for the review.
ReplyDeleteI've had the first book of this series on my wish list for a bit. I really need to read faster so I can get more books.
ReplyDeletehmm, i love the walker papers, perhaps time to try more Murphy.
ReplyDeleteI bought Heart of Stone from Barnes & Noble because of the cover and it sounded really good. I can't wait to start it =)
ReplyDeleteAnna,
ReplyDeleteI've read the first book in the Walker Papers but nothing else from this author. This series sounds very intriguing. :)
Have a wonderful day.
M
I'd never heard of these before, but they sound really good! Thanks for highlighting them.
ReplyDeleteThis series looks interesting. I haven't read a book featuring gargoyles before, but I'm willing to start. I'm going to look into these ones but from the sound of them, these ones are going on my TBR list.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the spotlight. =)
Oh, this is so cool! I found Hands of Flame and House of Cards at my local used book store about a month ago. I love books in trade paperback. Both copies look almost brand new. I bought them on a whim, without knowing anything about them other than they were by C.E. Murphy.
ReplyDeleteI just need to get a copy of Heart of Stone.
hey anna i saw you are planning to read pack challenge. that is a really good book. it is also part of a series just to let you know.
ReplyDeleteI love this series! Alban is wonderful. I actually listened to the audiobooks, which were excellent. This series is a really great example of how a trilogy should be done: each book builds on the previous one, and the 3rd really ties things up nicely!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy!
Hi Renee,
ReplyDeleteI listened to the audio of Heart of Stone too. But I'll probably pick up the other two books in the series. I really liked Alban too, great character.
I've always wanted to read this series! I'm going to put it on my list of books to hunt down. Thanks for the recommendation.
ReplyDeleteHi Anna!
ReplyDeleteThis series just looks way too cool! I'll have to look for this one as well!!
Have you read Vickie Taylor's Gargoyle Series?
