Title: Shiver
Author: Maggie Stiefvater
Genre: Young Adult Fantasy
Year: 2009
Summary: Grace has spent years watching the wolves in the woods behind her house. One yellow-eyed wolf --her wolf-- watches back. He feels deeply familiar t her, but she doesn't know why.
Sam has lived two lives. As a wolf, he keeps the silent company of the girl he loves. And then, for a short time each year, he is human, never daring to talk to Grace ... until now.
For Grace and Sam, love as always been kept at a distance. But once it's spoken it cannot be denied. Sam must fight to stay human--and Grace must fight to keep him--even if it means taking on the scars of the past, the fragility of the present, and the impossibility of the future.
Thoughts: I bought Shiver on a whim. I had read several of the reviews, and it sounded pretty good so I picked it up. I finished it in about a day, I had such a hard time putting it down. I absolutely loved this book. It was sad seeing the book come to an end, but I'm glad to see there will be a book two.
Shiver was a non-stop ride and emotional driven. I really enjoyed the characters, the were very easy to relate to. To see Grace and Sam's love flourish was exciting and heart wrenching. Maggie Stiefvater has written a beautiful story, it's descriptive and very real. I think it's gonna appeal to alot of readers, but especially if your a fan of Young Adult Fantasy.

ReplyDeleteThis book does sound so good. I tried to get a copy at the local Borders on Saturday but they *sigh* couldn't find the book even though their computer said they had a couple in stock. So, glad you enjoyed it!
ReplyDeleteHi Anna!
ReplyDeleteWould you believe this book in on my TBB list as well? I looked for it at Borders, but no luck. I couldn't find Rachel Vincent's book either. Getting slightly irritated. I looked for her book at Wal-Mart too. But a good book week anyway.
Dottie :)
I'm really looking forward to getting a copy of Shiver myself. I'm so glad you enjoyed it Anna =)
ReplyDeleteYep, Dottie I can believe it. LOL!
ReplyDeleteWhen i picked my copy up at Borders, I thought I would have to hunt for it. But they had it out on one of the front tables.
It' probably take Wal-mart another week to get it, if not longer. Sometimes they are so slow with book releases.
Hi Anna!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to read Shiver. I read Lament by Maggie Stiefvater in June and instantly loved this author. I'm so glad to see you gave it five stars!

ReplyDeleteWow, sounds like a great book!!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a great book - I like the idea of a shifter being influenced by temperature, and the need to keep him warm. What a cool idea!
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I nominated you for an E for Excellent blogger award on my blog!
