Title: Halo
Author: Alexandra Adornetto
Series: Halo
Genre: Young Adult
Release Date: August 31, 2010
I received this book for review from Macmillan.
Summary: Three angels--Gabriel, the warrior; Ivy, the healer; and Bethany, the youngest and most human--are sent by Heaven to bring good to a world falling under the influence of darkness. They work hard to conceal their luminous glow, superhuman powers, and, most dangerous of all their wings, all the while avoiding all human attachments
Then Bethany meets Xavier Woods, and neither of them is able to resist the attraction between them. Gabriel and Ivy do everything in their power to intervene, but the bond between Xavier and Bethany seems to strong. The angels' mission is urgent, and dark forces are threatening. Will love ruin Bethany or save her?
Thoughts: Three angels Gabriel, Ivy and Bethany arrive in Venus Cove. They are there to protect and observe. Watchful of the coming darkness. Human interaction is frowned upon and falling in love with a human is definitely out of the question. But when Bethany meets human Xavier -- she finds she can't resist him.
Angels seem to be the new vampire. While I prefer my vampires-- Angels have definitely been intriguing. Halo is the 3rd "angel book" I've read in the last few weeks. I thought the subject would become old by now, but not so much.
Halo is beautiful and dangerous. A splendid beginning to the series. It was quite a unique story. Different enough from similar books that it had my attention. The story was a bit slow, but still an enjoyable read. Bethany was a great character. Everything is shiny and new to her. It was interesting to see her character grow. Then there is the end, that very last line. It's a killer.
