I received this issue for review from Sea Lion Books.
Summary: Eugenie Markham is a freelance shaman, guarding our world from the invasion of Otherworldy creatures. Those who try have "The Dark Swan" to contend with.
But Eugenie's about to cross into the Otherworld alone to rescue a girl that nobody else will. Will she make it back across alive?
Thoughts: In the second issue of Storm Born, Eugenie comes to terms with the fact she can no long ignore all the creatures from Otherworld finding her and actually knowing who she is and her real name. She finds this very fact disturbing, so she takes on case of finding the lost Jasmine.
In issue #1 Eugenie meets the very hunky Kiyo who is brutally honest, but also quite mysterious. The intimate scenes are sexy. But were tastefully done. Issue #2 finds them still in bed together, when danger strikes and the actions of Kiyo shake Eugenie deeply. A fantastic piece of the story, I'm loving the action. It's flows smoothly and grabs your attention for more. Eugenie is a much more fiercer character than I originally thought, I can't wait to read more.
Score: 4 Stars

these graphic novels, or issues, or comics - they sound interesting. but I wonder, how much do they cost? with the novels broken down into so many issues, does it get expensive? Seems more and more urban fantasy authors are having a book or two going to this forum.
ReplyDeleteAHH!!! I wish my copies would get here soon!
ReplyDeleteHi Mardel,
ReplyDeleteThe ones I reviewed were the single issues. They run about $3.99 an issue. But you will be able to buy all of them together in one book.

A lot of authors are doing graphic novel. So far, the ones I've read have been great translations.
Amy,
ReplyDeleteI looking forward to your thoughts. Hope you enjoy too. :)
I loved this one too! I've been waiting and waiting for the third issue to release, but there is still no set date. I'm anxious to get my hands on it because we finally get to see Dorian ;)
ReplyDeleteAll the issues for volume 1 have been drawn and colored so they should be releasing pretty soon.
ReplyDeleteI know Sea Lion has been sending out issue 3 for review since several weeks ago.
As for the pricing, the single issues are 3.99 each (and average 25 story pages per issue), but you can wait for the trade as Anna posted or you can get digital copies for 1.99 at ComiXology https://comics.comixology.com/#/issue/14254/Richelle-Mead-Dark-Swan-1-Storm-Born
Also, if you wanna see Dorian I posted a page with him on my deviant art account @ http://fav.me/d487sgs
