Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Best/Worst Movie Adaptations

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Each Tuesday features a different topic and you post your top ten list related to the topic.

This weeks topic is: Top Ten Best/Worst Movie Adaptations.

BEST
1. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone
  • This is the first ever movie that I seen that stayed true to the book.
2. Breaking Dawn Part 1 & 2
  • I'm sure people will disagree with me on this one. But I enjoyed both, especially
    Part 2.
3. The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring
  • I read the book after seeing the movie, but loved both.
4. Interview with the Vampire
  • One of my favorite books, I thought they did a good job. Tom Cruise wasn't my favorite as Lestat, but I loved it all the same
5. Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe
  • I had previously seen 1988 version put out by BBC, but for me 2005 beats it by a miles.

WORST
1. Beautiful Creatures
  • I adore this book series and was so excited to see it. While it was okay for what it was, as a reader of the series it was such a big disappointment. They left things out, and changed things. If I were the authors I'd be kinda pissed off.
2. Blood and Chocolate
  • Another book I loved, that Hollywood messed up. They pretty much just used the title and character names. If your thinking about seeing the movie, I would recommend just reading the book instead, believe me its much better.
3. Eragon
  • This is another movie I like for what it was, but it could have been so much more.
4. Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events
  • It was neat seeing these characters brought to life. I just wish they hadn't
smashed the first three books into one movie.
5. The Golden Compass
  • Again, I loved seeing these characters brought to life, I was just hoping for more.

Thanks to the successful franchises of Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings and Twilight, Hollywood is gaga for making books into movies. Here are some I'm really looking forward to.

  1. We share some. Eragon was a huge let down for me, especially since the book is so good. And HP1 is probably the best adaptation as it follows the book best as well.

  3. I wasn't a fan of the Eragon adaptation as well. The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe is fantastic...I liked both versions. Great list!

  4. I agree with your Best List (most of it) since I haven't seen Interview with a Vampire. The Worst List, I watched most of the movies but never read the book, it was interesting to find out they combined 3 books for Lemony Snicket.

I am SUPER excited for the VA movie, hopefully they stay true to the books.
