Tall, Dark, and Vampire is your latest release. Can you tell us a little about it? Sara: This is the first book in the Dead in the City series which focuses on a coven of vampire chicks in NYC. Book one features the love affair of Olivia Hollingsworth and Doug Paxton. Olivia is a three centuries old, celibate vampire who owns and operates a nightclub in Manhattan called The Coven. She lost her one true love on the last night of her human life and vowed never to love another. She simply wants to run her coven and her club in peace. However, when club goers start to turn up dead, that’s not in the cards. When the cops show up to investigate, Olivia is rattled when one of them is a dead ringer for her long dead lover.
What is your writing day like? Sara: Well it’s about to change because my boys are done with school next week. The plan…and I stress the word plan…is to write every day for three hours either before or after our summer fun activities. When they’re in school I tend to write for half the day and do promo the other half but I won’t have that luxury in the summer.
When you’re not writing what kind of books do you like to read? Sara: I love romance but have stayed away from paranormal romance lately because I’m writing it. I love a fun contemporary or a good mystery.
What are 3 things that are "must haves" for you when you sit down to write a book? Sara: Computer. Coffee. Quiet.
If you could give your lead characters one piece of advice, what would it be? Sara: I’d tell Olivia to follow her heart and have faith that it will all workout and I’d tell Doug to lighten up. The boy is intense.
What inspired you most while writing Tall, Dark, and Vampire? Sara: Music. I make a soundtrack for every book I write and listen to it while I’m plotting. The song Fly to the Angels by Slaughter is the theme song for this book.
If you could cast your lead characters, which actors would you pick? Sara: I’d cast Christina Hendricks as Olivia and Chris Pine as Doug. No doubt. *sigh ... I adore Chris Pine.
Since becoming published, what has been your favorite part of the process? Sara: Believe it or not, it’s the edits. A blank page is intimidating. When the edits come back it’s like playing with clay and shaping the story into something awesome…hopefully. What is next for you? Sara: There’s one more Amoveo novel coming out in December—UNCLAIMED. In July 2014 VAMPIRE TROUBLE will be released—that’s the second Dead in the City book—and I will have an Amoveo Legend novella out sometime in 2014 also. I super excited to branch out with my new contemporary romance series, Holding Out for a Hero and readers should see that in either late 2014 or early 2015.

She always knew Fate was cruel...
The last person Olivia expected to turn up at her club was her one true love. It would normally be great to see him, except he's been dead for centuries. Olivia really thought she had moved on with her immortal life, but as soon as she sees Doug Paxton, she knows she'd rather die than lose him again. And that's a real problem...
But this is beyond the pale...
Doug is a no-nonsense copy by day, but his nights are tormented by dreams of a gorgeous redhead who's so much a part of him, she seems to be in his blood. When he meets Olivia face-to-face, long-buried memories begin to surface. She might be the answer to his prayers...or she might be the dead of him.

Congrats on the release! TALL, DARK, & VAMPIRE sounds great. I love PNR and vampires are my favorites. I am eager to read this book, but I am thinking that that has to be a long time for Olivia to be celibate!
ReplyDeleteBtw, I now have Fly to the Angels going through my head, LOL.

I really like the blurb of your new book. It's always interesting to read which actors the author envisions could portray their main characters.
