Casa for the Holidays Blog Tour + Giveaway

For today’s Casa for the Holidays guest blog, our Christmas romance authors are telling us what their heroines will ask for Christmas this year…

Juliana Stone, The Christmas He Loved Her
The Christmas He Loved Her is not your typical warm and fuzzy Christmas story.  It’s a book about love and loss, but ultimately, it’s a book about hope.

My heroine, Raine, has been through a lot in her young life.  When the story begins, she’s pretty much lost everything. But then Jake Edwards walks back into her life and something uncoils in her.  At first it’s anger, resentment maybe…but there is something else.  Something more.

It’s hope.  For Christmas, all this woman wants and needs is hope.  Because with hope there is love and at the end of the day, what more could anyone want?

Grace Burrowes, Lady Jenny’s Christmas Portait
Lady Jenny Windham, heroine of Lady Jenny’s Christmas Portrait, was one of many people for whom the holidays are difficult. For most of us, Yuletide can be tiring, expensive, and overly social. Jenny’s holidays were over shadowed by losses suffered during holidays past, and she’s reminded of those griefs year after year. Worse, the rest of her family, who shared in some of those bereavements, seems to go merrily along, hanging mistletoe, eating goodies, and swilling wassail.

One thread of the holiday tradition that has always struck a chord with me is the stranger, the friendless wanderer coping with winter’s chill and social marginalization. “No room at the inn,” is a sentiment we’ve all felt, whether it was on the second grade playground when a soccer game was organizing, or on the volunteer committee that seemed so welcoming when we first joined.

Lady Jenny was the odd sibling out, the last one to wed, the one with peculiar ambitions, the one who couldn’t shake loose of her grief. She found somebody—just one person, but a good one person—to accept her the way she was, with all those untidy, seasonally inappropriate emotions, and to love her enough that she could accept them in herself. For Christmas, Jenny came home, in a sense, because somebody lit a candle of love and kept it burning brightly enough that she could find her way through the night.

And that would be her Christmas wish for you: That when winter sets in, and you’re left out in the cold and dark, tired and dispirited, no room at the inn, somebody holds up a candle of love for you, and keeps it burning brightly enough that you can find your way home to the Christmas that’s waiting for you.

Terry Spear, A SEAL Wolf Christmas
My heroine, Anna, would ask a man who she can protect as much as he can watch her back. (I tell you, it's all part of the missions they go on!—No sweet little housewife or house-husband sitting at home.) A man she can spar with, shoot with, run with, and have fun with. A man with a sense of humor who can play as well as do the serious business. He has to be into forever—just like a real wolf is.

Carolyn Brown, The Cowboy’s Christmas Baby
It was the strangest Christmas Natalie had ever spent so when Lucas asked her one day exactly what she wanted she couldn’t answer him at all…not truthfully, anyway.

“What do you want for Christmas, Natalie?”

“I want—” She blushed. She couldn’t tell him that she wanted to be a permanent part of Cedar Hill Ranch and that she wanted him to accept Joshua as a real son. Lord, that would be asking for more than Santa Claus could stuff in his sleigh.

“What?” he pressured. “For real, what do you want?”

“I’ll think about it and let you know later. What do you want?”

“You,” he said without taking his eyes off her. “I came home in one piece and you were waiting for me.”
