Lisa Kleypas

Lisa Kleypas Rocks! Yes, that's what I said. The past several months I have read many of my fellow bloggers going on about how great Lisa Kleypas was, so I had to see what the buzz was about. I picked up the first two books in The Hathaway series. I was just blown away by them. The were both thrilling romance stories, set in the Regency Era. I love the two male Gypsy leads, Kev & Cam... they'll keep you turning the pages. ;) Both books are a Must Read!

My friend Barbara tells me that The Wallflowers series is just as good, so I'm gonna give that a try too. :)

Book Description:
When an unexpected inheritance elevates her family to the ranks of the aristocracy, Amelia Hathaway discovers that tending to her younger sisters and wayward brother was easy compared to navigating the intricacies of the ton. Even more challenging: the attraction she feels for the tall, dark, and dangerously handsome Cam Rohan.

Wealthy beyond most men’s dreams, Cam has tired of society’s petty restrictions and longs to return to his “uncivilized” Gypsy roots. When the delectable Amelia appeals to him for help, he intends to offer only friendship—but intentions are no match for the desire that blindsides them both. But can a man who spurns tradition be tempted into that most time-honored arrangement: marriage? Life in London society is about to get a whole lot hotter….

Book Description:
Kev Merripen has longed for the beautiful, well-bred Winnifred Hathaway ever since her family rescued him from the brink of death when he was just a boy. But this handsome Gypsy is a man of mysterious origins—and he fears that the darkness of his past could crush delicate, luminous Win. So Kev refuses to submit to temptation…and before long Win is torn from him by a devastating twist of fate.

Then, Win returns to England…only to find that Kev has hardened into a man who will deny love at all costs. Meantime, an attractive, seductive suitor has set his sights on Win. It’s now or never for Kev to make his move. But first, he must confront a dangerous secret about his destiny—or risk losing the only woman he has lived for…

  1. YAY!!!! I'm so happy you loved it! I'm in shock I'm still up considering that I have to wake up at 6am, lol, but it was worth it just to read your post!

I checked for Secrets Of A Summer Night. I only have the one, it was Scandal In Spring that I had doubles of.

I have ALL and I mean ALL of Lisa's books going all the way back to 1987. Her first three were out of print for years, so I had to buy them on ebay. If I told you just how much I paid you would probably laugh your head off, lol, and think I was nuts! But it was worth it for me, I love her stories.

Anyhow, I'm off to bed with a happy grin :)

    Night!

  2. Ouch, that is early! Yes, I enjoyed both books. Definitely keepers!

I see one of the books she has coming out in 2009 is Tempt Me At Twilight. The title is similar... I'm hoping this is a Hathaway book. LOL!

Over the weekend I ordered Secrets of A Summer Night, so hopefully it will be shipped soon.

    Night! :)

  4. I am going to have to read Seduce me at Sunrise next.

The first Lisa book I read, I didn't read the whole thing (sorry Barbara), it had a story line that really irked me. Hero wanting revenge on the heroine. I don't know, it could have been that I was not in the mood for a historical? It wasn't the right book for me to start off with of hers.

    P.S. I get up at 6am every morning! :)

  5. Oh you have to - you just have to read Dreaming of You if you haven't already. Up until recently, it was Book Number 1 on my all time favourite list - and it's still Number 2 - no shabby number when I've read thousands and thousands of books (and I really do mean that number!!)

  7. Ana- I just was reading about Dreaming of You. That looks good too, I'll have to pick that one up.

Amy- I think you'd really like it. Mine Till Midnight is the first book, but you shouldn't be too lost if you read Seduce Me At Sunrise first. :D

Kristie- Could your new number 1 be... Broken Wing? Hehe.

    :)

  10. Amy--Yeah, but I was getting up to get an endoscopy done, lol!

So, this morning they knocked me out, shoved a camera down the hatch and told me..."Your throat looks great. Your stomach is perfect. But, you have acid reflux."

HUH? You told me I HAD TO HAVE an endoscopy just to end up saying I have heartburn!!! Sigh...where's the tums.

  12. Eh, I wasn't super impressed with DOY, but I HEART LK. She's fabulous. You really must read her entire backlist, sez me. :P

  13. Hehe, I probably will add the rest of her books to my tbr list. Well probably not the contemps... I just can't get into contemporary romance.

  14. Ana, I couldn't get into contemporary romance either. This is why it took me so long to read Blue-Eyed Devil. Now, BED is on my top 10 list of 2008 meaning, if there is one writer that can change your mind about contemporary novels, Lisa Kleypas is that writer. ; D

  15. You know it's funny, but I adore contmeps and yet..I haven't read LK's. I just can't bring myself to read them. I've heard wonderful things about them, but to me LK is and always will be a historical author.

  16. I haven't read Comtemps in quite a few years. I need the Historical or Paranormal factor or I get bored. LOL

Which wasn't always the case. I think reading Paranormal Romance ruined that for me, but I'm ok with that. :D

  17. I'm just the opposite. I adore contemps and rarely read PNR or historicals. :P

  18. Um I really really loved the wallflower series and I am dying to read Seduce me but I am trying to hold out until Christmas in hopes someone gives it to me LOL

  19. Seduce Me By Sunrise was soo good.

I just got Secrets of a Summer Night. I'm looking forward to reading this story.
