[Review] - Dirty by Megan Hart

Title: Dirty
Author: Megan Hart
Genre: Erotic Romance
Year: 2007

Summary: This is what happened...

I met him at the candy store.

He turned and smiled at me and I was surprised enough to smile back. This was not a children's candy store, mind you--this was the kind of place you went to buy expensive imported chocolate truffles for your boss's wife because you felt guilty for having sex with him when you were both at a conference in Milwaukee.

Hypothetically speaking, of course.

I've been hit on plenty of times, mostly by men with little finesse who thought what was between their legs made up for what they lacked between their ears. Sometimes I went home with them anyway, just because it felt good to want and be wanted, even if it was mostly fake.

The problem with wanting is that it's like pouring water into a vase full of stones. It fills you up before you know it, leaving no room for anything else. I don't apologize for who I am or what I've done in--or out--of bed.

I have my job, my house and my life, and for a long time I haven't wanted anything else.

Until Dan. Until now.

Thoughts: Dirty was a book I've been wanting to read ever since I seen it featured in RT Magazine, it's just taken me a while to get around to it.

It took me a while to like the lead, Elle. At times she was frustrating, and the girl definitely has issues. Elle has a bit of a dark past, which really explains why she acts the way she does. Dan on the other hand is at first mysterious, but he's just a really sweet guy and I liked him right away. I did think he was almost too perfect. Although the more I read the more I found myself rooting for him.

Elle and Dan's story is steamy, sexy and at times very dark and heart wrenching. I highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys Erotic Romance. Some might think that since this is an Erotic story its all sex. But that is really so far from the truth. It has a deep and emotional back story, that might surprise some readers.

Score: 4 Stars

  2. Hi Anna! I loved your review.

I'm a HUGE fangirl of Megan Hart. 'Dirty' seems to be the novel that she's most associated with but for me, it's not my favorite. I was never able to warm up to Elle. Like you said, she's frustrating. I understand about her past but... I don't know. She just wasn't my favorite.

There is something so endearing about Hart's heroes. You're so right too, Dan was super sweet and I really enjoyed his character.

My favorite of all Hart's novels, and one that I'm trying to get Barbara to read, is 'Broken'. Hart tears your heart out with her heroine and she remains my favorite of all Hart's female leads.

    I hope you're having a wonderful weekend.

    :) VFG

  3. Thanks VFG! Yes Elle was frustating, there were times I would have love to shake some sense into her. Dan was one of the best parts of the book.

This was my first time reading Megan Hart. I'm probably gonna read the other books. But for sure, Stranger is on my list, since Amy and Barbara thought so highly of it.

  4. Hi Anna!

Great Review, sounds like one I'll have to look into.

I haven't read of Megan Hart's books yet, so it's another new author for me.

Should I start with this one?

    Dottie :)

  6. Dottie,
You can start with Dirty, but you don't need to. As far as I can tell they aren't connected books.

    Ceclie,
I've heard lots of good things about Stranger, gotta see what it's all about. :)

  9. Hey Anna,

Great review. Both Barbara and VFG have pushed me into the whole range of her spice books..

Loved how you sorted out your feeling for Elle and Dan right quick and the difference those feelings made to you enjoying the story.

I have ready Stranger and that book was no walk in the park - a real eye opener - I love Harts style..

    Thanks for a great review.

  11. Hi Anna,

I'll put in my 2 cents...

I adore Megan Hart's stories, am so happy she snagged another fan. I enjoyed your review very much and would recommend all of her books, but Broken is also my favorite... the story is so heart-wrenching. Didn’t care too much for Tempted. FYI (if you didn’t know already) there’s a short story of Elle and Dan post-Dirty, called Reason Enough. Elle also turns up briefly in Broken.

    Happy reading.
