Book Haul [11]

I had a slow week in books. But I did download the audio of Tricked by Kevin Hearne to my iPod and from Paperback Swap I received The Eyre Affair by Jasper Fford.

Leave your links in the comments to your Book Hauls, IMM, Stacking the Shelves etc... and I'll check them out.

The Iron Druid Chronicles #4
By Kevin Hearne

Druid Atticus O’Sullivan hasn’t stayed alive for more than two millennia without a fair bit of Celtic cunning. So when vengeful thunder gods come Norse by Southwest looking for payback, Atticus, with a little help from the Navajo trickster god Coyote, lets them think that they’ve chopped up his body in the Arizona desert.

But the mischievous Coyote is not above a little sleight of paw, and Atticus soon finds that he’s been duped into battling bloodthirsty desert shapeshifters called skinwalkers. Just when the Druid thinks he’s got a handle on all the duplicity, betrayal comes from an unlikely source. If Atticus survives this time, he vows he won’t be fooled again. Famous last words.

The Eyre Affair
Thursday Next #1
By Jasper Fford

Welcome to a surreal version of Great Britain, circa 1985, where time travel is routine, cloning is a reality (dodos are the resurrected pet of choice), and literature is taken very, very seriously. England is a virtual police state where an aunt can get lost (literally) in a Wordsworth poem, militant Baconians heckle performances of Hamlet, and forging Byronic verse is a punishable offense.

All this is business as usual for Thursday Next, renowned Special Operative in literary detection, until someone begins kidnapping characters from works of literature. When Jane Eyre is plucked from the pages of Brontë's novel, Thursday must track down the villain and enter the novel herself to avert a heinous act of literary homicide.

"My Book Haul" Graphic was created by Amy J @ My Overstuffed Bookshelf.

  1. I have some of the Iron Druid books in my TBR pile that never seems to go down. LOL. I so need to start this series. Good haul. The Eyre Affair is very different.

    1. Thanks Grace! I just recently heard about The Eyre Affair, it definitely sounds unique.

  2. I have been dying to read the books by Kevin Hearne.

    1. Amy,
