Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Childhood Favorites

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Each Tuesday features a different topic and you post your top ten list related to the topic.

This week's topic is Top Ten Tuesday REWIND
(pick a past topic that we've done that you missed)
So, I decided to pick Top Ten Childhood Favorites.

I've mentioned a few times that I hated to read when I was younger, and that is certainly true. But I did surprisingly have some favorites through my schooling.

1. Kristy's Great Idea (The Baby-Sitter's Club #1) by Ann M. Martin
  • Love this series. This is the one series that I stuck with through my school years. I have read all of the main books and some of the spin-off books.  I even read the prequel when it came out a few years ago.
2. The Boxcar Children (Boxcar Children #1) by Gertrude Chandler Warner
  • I loved the Boxcar Children. This was a series that was read to us during class.
3. Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing (Fudge #1) by Judy Blume
  • Judy Blume was another favorite of mine. Absolutely adored the Fudge series. It's great knowing that this series is still being read by kids today.
4. Ramona Quimby, Age 8 (Ramon Quimby #6) by Beverly Cleary
  • Ramona was another series that was read during class. They put a movie out not long ago, but I have yet to see it.
5. The Sign of the Beaver by Elizabeth George Speare
  • I clearly remember reading this book in 7th Grade English. None of us were fans of the teacher, but the books we got to read were awesome.
6. Nate the Great (Nate the Great #1) by Marjorie Weinman Sharmat
  • Loved reading this series in Elementary school.
7. Mr. Popper's Penguins by Richard and Florence Atwater
  • Mr. Popper's Penguins is another book that I loved from Elementary school. I was so excited this one of being made into a movie, but sadly they didn't stay true to the book.
8. Fear Street series by R.L. Stine
  • Loved reading the Fear Street books in Junior High. I haven't read them all, but a good chunk of them.
9. The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis
  • Not sure exactly when, but this was a book that I read during Elementary school. I loved it. But didn't read the rest of the series until many years later.
10. Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark by Alvin Schwartz
  • The Scary Stories books were my first intro to horror literature. It freaked my out, but I loved it and end up going to the library to check them out.

Over the last few years, I've started picking up my childhood favorites to add to my library. The Babysitter's Club is the only original. I've had that since it first came out. It's a bit beat up with the many times I've read it. :)

    1. It was a wonderful series. They have a prequel out, it's by a different author.. but still looks pretty cool. :)

    1. I loved Christopher Pike and Amelia Bedlia too. I never did get into Sweet Valley High... not sure why though. My mom tried to get me into Nancy Drew, but that never too.

      :)

  4. I loved the first Fudge book! I remember being really humored by everything. Poor turtle though, the end did make me a little sad as a kid.

  5. Fudge and Ramona both made my list when I did this topic too! How fun would a book be with both of them? Or maybe it would just be too much.

  6. Fudge and Ramona together would be something. Probably a lot of chaos, but totally fun. :)

  7. Mr. Popper's Penguins is FANTASTIC. I can't even articulate why I loved it so much.
