Interview & Giveaway with Shona Husk

Hi Shona, Welcome to Anna's Book Blog! I'm glad to have you here. To start off can you tell the readers a little about yourself?
Shona: I write paranormal romance, read books and eat dark chocolate—not all at the same time :) I live in Australia with my family and 2 cats who think I exist to warm the bed for them.

The Outcast Prince is your latest release, can you tells us a little about it?
Shona: The Outcast Prince is the first in a series about the Court of Annwyn, the power struggle that is going on and the way what happens in Annwyn bleeds into our world. Each book has a different hero and heroine, and Caspian and Lydia have their story in this book. Caspian is half-fairy which is complicated enough, but his father is the Crown Prince which complicates his life further. Because most people don’t believe in fairies he has a hard time forming relationships as women tend to think him a little odd. Lydia is used to odd, but learning about fairies really opens up her eyes. It’s always fun to write a heroine discovering that the world isn’t quite as it seems.

What is your writing day like?
Shona: After I’ve dropped the kids at school I come home do blog posts and social media until about 10:30 then get going with writing. I usually write 4-5k in a day. I break for lunch and stop when the kids come home. Sometimes I write in the evening but usually only for an hour as I like to relax and read or catch up on TV.

When you’re not writing what kind of books do you like to read?
Shona: I read just about anything, but I prefer historical romance, fantasy or erotic romance.

What are 3 things that are "must haves" for you when you sit down to write a book?
Shona: My notes and something to write on are the only things I really need, but I love a hot chocolate and some chocolate when I first sit down to review my notes and get started.

What inspired you most while writing The Outcast Prince?
Shona: I always make a playlist for every book which I listen to while writing the first draft as I find music inspirational. I also researched myths and fairy law while writing The Outcast Prince. Some of the old fairy law is very interesting, but I can’t include it all in one book. It’s no one thing that inspires a book for me, the ideas tend to come from all over the place.

If you could give your lead characters one piece of advice, what would it be?
Shona: I’d tell Caspian that he needs to let someone in, a life without love is a life half lived. Lydia has to stop living in the shadow of her family; she needs to be herself and be happy with who she is instead of being who she thinks she needs to be.

What's your favorite thing about writing Paranormal Romance?
Shona: I love creating an extra layer to the world we live in, something that exists outside of the ordinary that we ignore and logic away. There are so many old myths and interesting creatures that could be brought to life while still having romance and a HEA. I like books that have a happy ending.

If you could cast your hero, which actor would you pick?
Shona: It’s hard to pick one. There are many great actors out there who could pull off being half-fairy ;)

What is next for you?
Shona: I’ve been working on a couple of erotic sci-fi romances, that follow on from Lunar Exposure, which will hopefully be out later this year with Ellora’s Cave. Then next year books 2 and 3 in the Annwyn series will be out.

 THE OUTCAST PRINCE
BY SHONA HUSK
IN STORES JULY 2013

Just One Taste Is All It Takes... This is no ordinary mirror. Caspian caught a hint of color, a whirl of a waltz just past his reflection—a glimpse into the decadent Fairy Court of Annwyn. The home he could never have. It called to him, whispering temptation after temptation...if he could only reclaim his rightful heritage.

To Be Forever Lost... Caspian has an even stronger reason to stay in the world of humans. He's just met a woman who captivates him like no other. But loving him has proven to be dangerous. And he will do whatever it takes to protect Lydia from the vicious, seductive world of Court—even if doing so requires the ultimate sacrifice: his soul.
