[ARC Review] - In a Fix by Linda Grimes

Title: In a Fix
Author: Linda Grimes
Series: In a Fix
Genre: Urban Fantasy
Release Date: September 4, 2012

I received this book from Tor Books, in exchange for an honest review.

Summary:  Snagging a marriage proposal for her client while on an all-expenses-paid vacation should be a simple job for Ciel Halligan, aura adaptor extraordinaire. A kind of human chameleon, she’s able to take on her clients’ appearances and slip seamlessly into their lives, solving any sticky problems they don’t want to deal with themselves. No fuss, no muss. Big paycheck.

This particular assignment is pretty enjoyable... that is, until Ciel’s island resort bungalow is blown to smithereens and her client’s about-to-be-fiancĂ© is snatched by modern-day Vikings. For some reason, Ciel begins to suspect that getting the ring is going to be a tad more difficult than originally anticipated.

Thoughts: Ciel Halligan is a an aura adapter, which means she can take on the appearance of other humans and take part in their lives. She makes a decent living off her talent.  Her current assignment takes her on vacation to a resort. But just when things are going good, her clients boyfriend is kidnapped and their rental house is blown up. Ciel's job takes a turn she definitely wasn't expecting.

Loved it! Ciel and her talent were so interesting - it kept me turning the pages. Fellow aura adapters Billy and Mark  are frustrating, flirty and fun to read about. The modern day Vikings are an intriguing concept. In a Fix is purely unique. I have read stories with all sorts of paranormal and fantasy creatures - but never like the talent of Ciel Halligan. This story was a wonderful read. Deliciously sexy and it moves at a fast pace that never leaves you hanging. A must read.
